Crispy Cheese Poppers

(14 Votes)
1 Min

If you love the jalapeno cheese poppers you can buy at the deli counter, you'll go absolutely crazy for these deep-fried snacks! Serve Crispy Cheese Poppers at your next party or big event.

What You'll Need:
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 fresh jalapeño pepper, stem and seeds removed, chopped
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 18 wonton wrappers (from a 16-ounce package), thawed if frozen
  • 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
What To Do:
  1. In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, chopped jalapeño, and Parmesan cheese; mix well.
  2. Place a wonton wrapper on a flat work surface. Dip your fingers in a small bowl of water and moisten the edges of the wrapper. Place about 1 tablespoon of the cheese mixture in the center of the wrapper and fold diagonally to form a triangle. Seal the edges firmly with your fingers. Continue with the remaining cheese mixture and wonton wrappers.
  3. In a large deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil until hot but not smoking. Fry the wontons in batches for 30 seconds per side, or until crisp and golden. Remove with a slotted spoon to drain on a paper towel-lined platter. Serve immediately.

It never ceases to amaze me that people who can access these recipes on line have not found out how easy it is to find sites (such as Calorie Count :: Foods & Recipes - The Gourmet Food and Cooking Resource - The Calorie Counter) in order to check on the calories of the posted recipes as well as the meals you prepare without using a formal recipe. These are only 3 of the many such sites available on line.

My son has been making these for several years now, we always have the duck sauce on hand. Yum! Be sure to remove seeds to control the heat!!

Seeds DO NOT control the heat. Pepper RIBS DO !!

Get a life!!! It's too short to be so picky!!!!!

Can these be made ahead? How about frozen?

These can be made and frozen, then cooked. But they can only be made a couple of hours ahead, covered with a wet paper towel, then cooked otherwise they dry out.

It looks like the photo shows a cup of some kind of dip. Could somebody offer some suggestions on what would be good with these? Thanks.

Great question! The dip in the picture is duck sauce, but try these poppers with any sauce that appeals to you, maybe some warm spaghetti sauce! Thank you and enjoy!

ranch salad dressing is really good.

Asian sweet chili sauce is our favorite. I also roast my jalapeno before chopping, it mellows the jalapeno a bit, and gives more depth of flavor.

Add some Bacon some red peppers and little lime juice.

How about putting the calorie count on your recipes????

How about you going to another recipe web site and leave this one alone =..=

calorie counting is the healthy way now a days. Post the calories, and everyone choose there own food. everybody is happy then!

Yum! Add some chopped green onions for even more flavor.

Hey bnrudy! You've "been rude" so just stop. There's no need to dog on people like that. I'm sure you're usually a nice person, maybe you're just having a bad day. Let people post with out having to worry that they're going to be put down. Smile, relax, have a good day :)
