Food tastes special when we're camping out under the stars. But even if we're indoors, we can still capture some of that wonderful open air-flavor with these tasty beefy Chuck Wagon Buns.

What You'll Need

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2/3 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup hickory-flavored bottled barbecue sauce
  • 4 hot dog rolls
  • butter for rolls (optional)

What to Do

  1. In a large skillet, brown beef; drain off liquid. Stir in ketchup, brown sugar, chili powder, cumin, pepper, and barbecue sauce; simmer 10 minutes to blend all flavors.

  2. Meanwhile, butter rolls and toast them under broiler. Spoon beef mixture onto toasted hot dog rolls.

Notes

Serve with baked beans, pasta salad, or crunchy raw vegetables to complete the meal.

Freeze it. Make recipe up to sauce and then freeze the sauce with directions for finishing. If you want smaller portions, divide sauce in to two portions.

It all looks great! Can't wait to try them. I just with your recipes came with scaled down versions as well..sigh..maybe some day? So far, I haven't found anything I haven't liked yet!
