Wait'll you see how a secret ingredient takes these shortcut biscuits from ordinary to extra-fluffy and delicious! Add a sausage patty and you've got a complete breakfast.

What You'll Need

  • 4 cups biscuit baking mix
  • 3/4 cup lemon-lime soft drink
  • 1 (8-ounce) container sour cream
  • 12 sausage patties

What to Do

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Stir together first 3 ingredients in medium bowl until mixture forms a dough. (Dough will be wet.) Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; knead 3 or 4 times.

  2. Divide dough into 12 portions; flatten each portion slightly with hands, and arrange in lightly greased 9-inch round cakepan. Bake 13 to 15 minutes or until golden. Split biscuits.

  3. Cook sausage patties according to package directions. Drain on paper towels. Place each patty between 2 biscuit halves, and serve immediately.

Notes

Refrigerate leftover biscuits with sausage overnight. To reheat, bake aluminum foil-wrapped sausage biscuits at 350 degrees F, 5 to 10 minutes or until heated.

I made these for breakfast this morning using club soda instead of the lemon-lime soft drink and they were delicious. This recipe is definitely a keeper!

Just wondering...has anyone ever made these using club soda or seltzer rather than lemon-line soft drink?

I think I'll try that, have you try it yet

these biscuits are better if butter is melted in the pan and the batter is not rolled or patted but dropped by the heaping tablespoon full into the butter to bake you will get 9 biscuits instead of 12 but mmmm soooo goooood

jm cook---then freeze.

This is my favorite biscuit recipe and are always a hit...as in nuclear...biscuits on crack! SUPER good with homemade cane syrup!

The biscuits are outstanding! However if you freeze them (like a batch to cook later) they are just not the same. They are ok, but not as good as if you cooked them when you made them.

If you cook them let cool and then freeze them, when you take them out of freezer barely thaw with microwave, then place in toaster oven at 250 degrees for a minute or two and they will be almost as good as fresh baked.
