Pull Apart Polish Babka

COOK TIME
30 Min

When we baked this in our Test Kitchen we had to make it again and again...No, not because it didn't come out right, but because our whole staff kept eating it up!

What You'll Need

  • 2 (17-½ ounce each) cans refrigerated buttermilk biscuits (8 biscuits per can)
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup raisins

What to Do

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a Bundt pan with cooking spray.

  2. Separate each biscuit dough into eight biscuits. Cut each biscuit into 6 pieces and place pieces into a large bowl.

  3. In a small bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon, and raisins.

  4. Sprinkle cinnamon mixture over biscuit pieces and toss until evenly coated.

  5. Place dough mixture into prepared Bundt pan.

  6. Bake 30 minutes. Let cool 10 minutes, then invert pan to release babka ring.

Notes

Because of the way this bakes, we like to pull apart the baked dough instead of cutting it. We know it sounds funny, but we think it tastes even better that way! Try it.

Where's the butter? Need butter to make it taste good and give it a bit of moisture

Hey there, with this recipe we are going for a more old-fashioned type bread that you can pull apart or slice, and then serve with butter or spread. :)

I too, am Polish and most of my relatives are now deceased, so I am always looking for something from "the old country" so to speak. This is a wonderful recipe, and I think my sister used to make similar in the 70's using crescent rolls and pudding mix? Anyway this recipe is so quick and easy. thanks Mr. Food for all your wonderful recipes.

O.K., my "Monkey Bread" recipe called for the cut biscuits to be dipped in melted butter or margarine first, then dropped into a plastic bag which already had the cinnamon, sugar mixture in it. Also, there were no raisins, but there were pecan bits in it. Anyway, it tastes divine, and I'll bet this recipe does too! And if there was any cinnamon mixture left in the bag, it was poured over the biscuits after they were in the Bundt pan, plus any leftover butter was too. Yummy!

Children! Stop the fussing,,,just cook,,,eat,,,,enjoy,,,and BE GRATEFUL! (just saying)

I don't have a bundt cake pan, can I use a glass bowl?

Except for the raisins, it's the exact "monkey bread" recipe a friend gave me. Either name, it's excellent.

I made this last night very good BABKA!!! Thanks Mr. FOOD!

Being Polish I always like to see r3ecipes from the old country.

What "Old Country"? As far as I know, refrigerated Buttermilk biscuits are made in the USA by Pillsbury and others. This recipe is more commonly known as "Monkey Bread" because it is so simple that even a monkey could make it. (No disrespect intended)

Are you POLISH? Monkey Bread is not called BABKA.

@ babyuggie 3790446, wandajoe 4735668: Are you KIDDING me?!? All uubassoonist 6292668 did, was say that they liked seeing recipes from the old country. They NEVER once said anything about this being called Monkey bread or Babka. Get a life.
