Chocolate Rum Balls is one of our favorite desserts because it is so-o-o sweet and simple. You try it! This party food favorite is a hit with the adults, especially among close friends and family. This easy chocolate recipe will having you looking for excuses to wave that candy-man flag every week!

What You'll Need:
  • 1 (9-ounce) package chocolate wafers, crushed
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 1 cup sifted powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup dark rum (see Note)
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • Additional sifted powdered sugar
What To Do:
  1. Combine first 3 ingredients in a large bowl; stir in rum and corn syrup.

  2. Shape mixture into 1-inch balls, and roll in additional powdered sugar. Store balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 1 month.
Notes

Chocolate wafers serve as the base of this showy candy. I don't recommend using rum extract as a substitute, so serve these at adult-only gatherings.

Will Oreos or Hydrox work? ? ? and leave out the corn syrup ?

I use this same recipe, but with vanilla wafers and Jack Daniels instead of rum for my bro-in-law at Christmas - he calls 'em Black Jack Balls. No matter what wafer you use, it should not have filling or icing.

Try chocolate grahams if you can't find wafers. I the wafers are hard to find

What kind of choclolate wafers? The round ones, or the sticks, like the choc, strawberry and vanilla wafers? Thanks. These sound really good.

I suspect that they want Nabisco Famous Chocolate Wafers which do come in a 9 oz size. I have another recipe that called for these wafers and I have found them difficult to find in our local (Fargo, ND) stores. so good luck finding them.

Hi 1202man I am from Fargo too...have you looked for wafers on top shelf in the cookie aisle? I am in Denver now and of course I find them easy now!
