Wish you could make moist, juicy restaurant-style roasted chicken? It just takes spices and a can of ginger ale. Yep, ginger ale keeps it tender and, 'cause the chicken cooks on the soda can, it roasts all over just like it does on a rotisserie.

What You'll Need

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (12-ounce) can ginger ale
  • 1 (3- to 3-1/2-pound) chicken

What to Do

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a roasting pan with aluminum foil.

  2. In a small bowl, combine oil, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper; mix well. Open ginger ale and place can on a flat roasting rack in prepared roasting pan.

  3. Rub seasoning mixture over chicken, coating completely. Place chicken, cavity down, over soda can.

  4. Carefully place chicken in oven and roast for 60 to 70 minutes, or until chicken is no longer pink and its juices run clear. Carefully remove chicken from can; slice and serve.

can use Vernors which is another form of ginger ale

very interesting,I will have to try, always like to learn new ways to cook chicken, I like it many ways, trying to find a way my wife will also like CHICKEN.............HELP PLEASE...

A good easy recipe for chicken is adobo chicken. The recipe I got is for the crock pot. You take 4 chicken breasts and place them in the crock pot. In another bowl, mix one chopped onion, 8 cloves of chopped garlic, 1/2 c vinegar and 3/4 c soy sauce. The chicken to me does not taste like any of the individual ingredients, but is very tasty. You cook on low for about 4 hours in the crock pot. I hope you and your wife like it!

This sounds yummy. I'm going to try it. Thanks.

We use beer as well. it's called beer can chicken. You should cut an onion or potato to stuff the neck to keep the moisture in. After you take out the chicken, let it rest up to 30. I suggest using a meat thermometer. 180 degrees in the thigh and its done. It's great chicken and the only way i fix it.

I suppose so,,, but we've always used a can of beer. This is not a joke and you cannot taste any beer or alcohol after it's done.

Can you use diet ginger ale?
