All in One Kielbasa

Polish kielbasa is a wonderful gift brought from the old country, and when we make it with sauerkraut and bacon, we come up with the most hearty, authentic taste.

Serves: 4

Cooking Time: 20 min

Ingredients
  • 5 slices fresh bacon, or 4 tablespoons bacon bits
  • 1 bag (32 ounces) sauerkraut, drained (4 cups)
  • 1 can (4 ounces) sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 1/4 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1 pound kielbasa
Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, fry the bacon slices over medium-high heat for 6 to 8 minutes, until crispy.

  2. Remove from the skillet, allow to cool, and crumble into small pieces in a small bowl.

  3. Meanwhile, drain all but 1 tablespoon of fat from the skillet, then add the sauerkraut, mushrooms, and celery seed to the skillet; add the crumbled bacon and mix well.

  4. Reduce the heat to low and add the whole kielbasa and simmer, covered, for 10 minutes or until heated through.

Notes

Serve this cut into chunks with spicy coarse-ground mustard and enjoy!
