One pot simmering means the stove does all the work and you get all the credit. Who wouldn't like that?! Plus, with our Simmerin' Beef One Pot clean up is done in a snap so you can spend less time scrubbing and more time with your loved ones.

What You'll Need:
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1 medium-sized onion, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 (2 to 3-pound) brisket of beef, trimmed
What To Do:
  1. In a soup pot, combine all the ingredients except the brisket; mix well. Add the brisket and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to low; cover and simmer for 2 hours, or until fork-tender.
  2. Remove the brisket from the pot; slice thinly across the grain, and serve.

Sauce was delicious. Beef, however, was not as tender as I had expected. Good flavor, but won't make again. I added tiny red potatoes, and they were really good, soaking the flavor of the sauce and making it a true one pot dinner. (Brisket used to be a cheap cut of meat, but it has gotten rather expensive.) Will slice the leftovers very thinly for beef sandwiches.

maybe you should try cooking it for 2 1/2 - 3 hours

Can I make this in a crock pot? How long would it take to cook in a crock pot?

Hi there! Yes, you can make this in a slow cooker. Cook on low for about 5-6 hours. Enjoy!

Sorry, I do not understand how a slab of beef and one onion make a "one pot dinner"!

add you veggie 2 the as the meat is that way you can it is 1 pot meal.

do you lack an imagination?? You CAN add a salad or some other vegetable of choice, to make it a meal. Sheesh!

You might note that the recipe is not called a one pot "dinner", just the beef is cooked in one pot. There is enough water that you could easily add some diced potatoes, carrots or cabbage to the pot :)

I'm looking for the recipe you had some time ago which was a i pot deal. I remember you saying it had a tex-mex flavor. You started with a pound of hamberger and I remeber a yellow pepper and the last ingrediaet was Salsa. Could you ever get that to me? Thanks!!
