Shrimp Mac 'n' Cheese puts a trendy seafood spin on our recipe for homestyle macaroni and cheese. When your gang tastes this variation, studded with shrimp, macaroni and cheese will never be the same!

What You'll Need:
  • 1 pound elbow macaroni
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon seafood seasoning (Old Bay)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 pound cooked medium-sized shrimp, cut in half
What To Do:
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Coat a 9- x 13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

  2. Cook macaroni according to package directions; drain.

  3. In a large soup pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour, seafood seasoning, salt, and pepper; mix well. Gradually add milk, bring to a boil, and cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Stir in 3 cups cheese until melted.

  4. Add cooked macaroni and shrimp to cheese sauce and stir until thoroughly combined; pour mixture into prepared baking dish and sprinkle top with remaining cheese.

  5. Bake 35 to 40 minutes, or until heated through and top is golden.

I made this dish tonight and used a really good sharp cheddar, and 12oz of frozen small shrimp (a little bigger than the macaroni) and increased the Old Bay to 1 teaspoon because we love the taste. OH my GOODNESS... this is rich and luscious and sinfully good. I know most would say don't put cheese with seafood but if you love mac and cheese and you love shrimp, You're gonna get addicted to this dish!

I would love to rate this recipe 5 stars but have no idea how to do that. Seems like once its added to my recipe box there's no way to rate the recipe. Problem is I add them to my collection BEFORE I try them so how can I rate something I have not made yet? Any suggestions?

Hi PA Momma! Thank you so much for your comments! After reading your comment, I saved this recipe to my Recipe Box and then was able to rate it. If you are not able to, we can look into it. Please let me know if you still can not. Thank you!

My family just love shrimp scmpi so I know we will be crazy about this !

Could we have the recipe for the microwave cheese sauce?

Made this tonight exactly as per instructions. It is a new favorite now. My husband and I enjoyed the mix of flavors very much. Just like eating out in a restaurant!

Will try tonight. I'd never change a recipe until I've made it at least once following the original directions. If I want something different I'll create it from scratch - I enjoy trying recipes other than my own.

Sounds delicious and I will make it, but I think I'll use a microwave cheese sauce recipe I have.

Seriously,,, microwave cheese sauce????
