Pizza Casserole

(8 Votes)
22 Min

When you're ready for a change from plain old pizza, make this "wow" Pizza Casserole. It's got all the tastes you love about pizza in a whole new form.

What You'll Need:
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes with basil, garlic, and oregano
  • 1 (10-ounce) container refrigerated pizza crust
  • 2 cups (8 ounces) shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
What To Do:

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Coat a 9- x 13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a medium skillet, brown ground beef over medium-high heat, stirring and crumbling the beef until no pink remains; drain.
  3. Add tomatoes to beef; cook until heated through.
  4. Meanwhile, unroll pizza crust; press over bottom and halfway up sides of prepared baking dish. Sprinkle 1 cup mozzarella cheese over crust then top with meat mixture.
  5. Bake uncovered 12 minutes. Top with remaining 1 cup mozzarella cheese and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake 5 minutes, or until crust is golden and cheese is melted. Cut into squares and serve.

I think it would be tasty to add Pepperoni, Mushrooms and diced Onions to the top of the meat mixture before baking. Looking forward to making this.

Great thing about this recipe is that there are SO MANY variations!

I use a 1/2 lb of Italian sausage, 1/2 lb lean ground beef and add turkey pepperoni, black and green olives, fresh saute mushrooms and onions, etc. Yummmmm so GOOD =..=

My family and I made almost all of our meals on our annual vacation to Ft. Myers Beach, Florida for years. We made hamburgers one night, and we used the leftover ground beef for pizza the next night. Another option for this recipe, to make it easier, is to buy a frozen pizza of your choice. If you are trying to stay healthy, look at Amy's options for pizza -- most of them have fairly healthy ingredients. And instead of using tomato sauce, you could make a pizza with a garlic and olive oil base. After heating your frozen pizza, sprinkle on the ground beef. I just wanted to add an idea to this spectacular, quick recipe!

I don't like "chunks" of warm tomato, so I zipped this in my food processor before adding it to the meat; this has a very nice flavor and could be easily adapted to add the things individuals like on their pizza. Could easily add pepperoni, green pepper, mushrooms, etc. Good basic recipe that would be easily adapted to families. Easy to make, too!
