COOK TIME

Baked Sweet Potato Fries are a healthy, yet hearty go-along option. There's no hassle when we hand-cut and freshly bake our own sweet potato fries, making them an easy from-scratch side dish.

What You'll Need:
  • 4 large sweet potatoes (about 2 pounds), peeled and cut lengthwise into 1/2-inch-thick strips
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
What To Do:
  1. Preheat oven to 450ºF.

  2. In a large bowl, combine potatoes and oil; toss to coat completely. Spoon potatoes onto rimmed baking sheets in a single layer.

  3. Bake 15 to 18  minutes, or until golden. Turn potatoes over and bake an additional 5 to 8 minutes, or until golden.

  4. Drain on a paper towel-lined platter. Sprinkle sweet potato fries with salt, and serve.

I thought they were just o.k. very bland

For more savory flavor -- I sprinkle with my own choices of paprika, garlic powder, chile powder, salt, & pepper. Or you can use one of the "seasoning salt" products.

Thanks so much for recipe, I love it.

Why so PARANOID about a microwave? If used properly, IT IS NOT HARMFUL! C'mon dianewingatesefton, get real!

I have made sweet potato baked fries with lots of cinnamon (no sugar needed) and with mixed Italian spices. Both ways my family eats them right up. Now I usually make two big pans and spice each differently.

Can't wait to try these sweet potatoes. After slicing them, you can microwave them in a bowl for about 3 mins. on High. Then add oil & salt & spread on pans. It cuts down on the time it takes them to bake.

I PEEL THE ENTIRE POTATO AND SPRINKLE WITH A LITTLE EVOO AND BAKE ON A JELLY ROLL PAN. I COULD EAT SEVERAL POTATOES FIXED THIS WAY! IT IS LIKE 'JAY'S POTATO CHIPS, "YOU CAN'T STOP EATING THEM!'"

USE A VEGGIE PEELER AND PEEL THE ENTIRE POTATO(ES) [YOU'LL NEED LOTS!] INTO A LARGE BOWL. SPRINKLE A LITTLE E.V.O.O. ON THEM AND TOSS WITH YOUR CLEAN HANDS. SPREAD OUT ON THE LARGE JELLY ROLL PAN AND BAKE UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN. IT WILL DEPEND ON THE VOLUME OF POTATOES AS TO HOW LONG THEY WILL NEED TO BE IN THE OVEN AT 375, BUT REMEMBER ALL OVENS ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL, SO CHECK YOUR OVEN AND TOSS POTATOES, IF THERE IS A LARGE AMOUNT OF THEM. THEY WILL GO FAST! YOU COULD SPRINKLE THEM W/ S&P OR FOR THAT SWEET TOOTH, CINNAMON SUGAR, AND IF YOU ARE A DIABETIC, WITH CINNAMON AND SWEETENER. I USE STEVIA AND A LITTLE CINNAMON. CINNAMON CUTS THE SUGAR IN OUR BODIES DOWN.

I ADD A LITTLE BROWN SUGAR AND CHILI POWDER TO MINE, DELICIOUS

For the person with artheritus trycooking in microwave oven a little just enough to sofentocut thencut in half and the rest youcan cut in smaller piecess. Or use an electric knife.

NEVER, EVER USE A M/W FOR ANYTHING! NOT ANYTHING!!! THEY ARE DANGEROUS TO OUR HEALTH. IF YOUR ARTHRITIS IS THAT BAD, PURCHASE AN INEXPENSIVE MANDOLIN OR AN ELECTRIC FOOD SLICER. I FOUND ONE OF THOSE FOR JUST UNDER $50 THAT IS ALL METAL. I USE IT FOR EVERYTHING...ONIONS, TOMATOES, POTATOES, COOKED MEATS, CHEESES...IF IT NEEDS SLICING, OR IT LOOKS LIKE IT NEEDS SLICING, IT GETS SLICED! MINE IS ON THE COUNTER ALL THE TIME BECAUSE I NEVER STOP USING IT. I HAVE HAD THREE PLASTIC ONES THAT I HAVE WORN OUT AND HAVE JUST FOUND AN ALL METAL ONE THAT I AM GOING TO PURCHASE. THEY ARE SMALL AND DO NOT TAKE UP MUCH ROOM AT ALL ON THE COUNTER. YOU MIGHT EVEN FIND ONE AT A SECOND-HAND STORE. THAT'S WHERE I WOULD LOOK FIRST.

I would love to make this recipe. However I have always found it extremly hard to cut raw sweet potatoes, now even more so because of my artheritus. I did try baking them and then cutting them and rebaking. The results were not good. Any suggestions to make this easier so I can also start enjoying making and eating my own sweet potato fries?

PLEASE READ MY POST TO THE PERSON ABOVE YOU REGARDING THE USE OF A VEGETABLE PEELER OR GOING TO A THRIFT STORE AND LOOKING FOR AN ELECTRIC FOOD SLICER. IT IS NO FUN HAVING ARTHERITUS, I AM SURE. I AM THANKFUL I DO NOT HAVE THAT.

they have them all cut and peeled in the frozen section in some stores, even SAM'S CLUB HAD THEM

ThankS ! Very helpful. Best Regards!

thiese were sooooo easy and they go soo god with any thing we like them with pork roast and apples they are ohh sooo good
