Blue Ribbon Strawberry Preserves

(1 Votes)
COOK TIME
20 Min

When strawberries are in season, make the most of it by canning and making your own batch of Blue Ribbon Strawberry Preserves. We promise it'll be satisfying when you smear some homemade jam on your morning toast!

What You'll Need:
  • 1 quart fresh strawberries, washed, hulled, and quartered
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
What To Do:
  1. In a large saucepan, bring all ingredients to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to low and simmer 10 to 12 minutes, or until strawberries have cooked down and mixture has thickened, stirring frequently.

  2. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely. Store in an airtight container and chill for at least 4 hours before serving.

Makes about 3 cups preserves.

Notes

If you start with really sweet strawberries, you can decrease the amount of sugar to between 2 and 2 1/2 cups, if you want.

for reREAL preserves you hardly ever use any water, but any way dont you think the strawberries have enough juice to cook in.

No water? What's it suppose to boil in??????????????????????

The sugar and the lemon juice will draw the juice out of the strawberries and produce enough liquid to make the preserves.
