I first made this with olive oil and it burned during the second half of cooking. Then I made it with Canola oil and it burning during the first half of cooking. I notice most other snack mix recipes use butter. I would like to use oil and like the simplicity of this recipe. What am I doing wrong?

Hi there! We're sorry to hear this recipe hasn't worked out for you. The Test Kitchen just tested again, to make sure we haven't made any errors, and our mix came out a light golden brown. We tested it on the center rack of the oven. Your oven may need to be calibrated, or you can try cutting down your cooking time by 5 minutes each cycle, instead of 7 minutes. Let us know how it turns out!

i have been making these for years, i put chex cereal in it too and i dont bake it, maybe i will try it the next time. ITS OOH SO GOOD

I've had these before, and they are so addictive! You won't believe how good those little oyster crackers taste this way. Bonus: some of this mix in a salad, like croutons, is very, very good :)
