Healthful Granola

This granola is not only good for you, it's good to eat! Keep it on hand for healthy-and tasty-snacking for kids and grown-ups alike.

Makes: 5 Cups

Preparation Time: 5 min

Cooking Time: 20 min

What You'll Need:
  • 2 cups uncooked regular oats
  • 3/4 cup uncooked hot oat bran cereal
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped pitted dates
  • 1/3 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup sunflower kernels
What To Do:
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Combine first 5 ingredients in a large bowl.
     
  2. Stir together honey and next 3 ingredients in a small bowl; stir into dry ingredients. Spread mixture onto a 10- x 15-inch rimmed baking sheet.
     
  3. Bake 20 minutes or until dark brown, stirring often; cool in pan on a wire rack. Stir in raisins and remaining ingredients, and store in an airtight container. Stir granola into yogurt, or sprinkle over cereal.
