I set out to make my husband soup for his cold but this ended up being more of a STEW. It was so good though. Was the recipe correct about 1 cup flour? I followed it exactly and it was yummy but thick like gravy.

Hi there! The Test Kitchen says that this is a hearty soup and the reason that it calls for 1 cup of flour is because of how it is made in a slow cooker. Enjoy!

Question to those that have made it.. isn't that a lot of flour?

steak does NOT belong in potato soup! does not sound good at all. to many ing. 4 a potato soup....... I make potato soup, and this is not potato soup. where does steak and tomatoes come in for potato soup? sounds like grandpa will eat anything. gross......

this is terrible!!! I'm sorry, but stewed tomatoes, or tomatoes of ANY kind belong in potato soup. NASTY

IF YOU ARE A COOK , WHY WOULD YOU PUT THAT MUCH BOUILLION IN IF YOU THOUGHT IT WAS TOO MUCH, YOU CAN ALWAYS ADD IT LATER IF IT NEEDS IT. WHAT A SHAME TO THROW OUT THOSE GOOD INGREDIENTS!!!

I would like to try this recipe but don't understand why there's so many ingredients with salt like the soup mix, bouillion and then 1/4th teaspoon of salt too! I don't know what to omit.

I thought 1/4 cup of beef bouillon granules seemed like a lot, but I put it in anyway. Mistake! It was SO salty & had such an aftertaste! I added water to dilute it, but ended up throwing it all away. What a shame because it had wonderful ingredients.......
