Sweet and Sour Irish Cabbage hails from Ireland and is a great St. Patrick's Day side dish. Serve with corned beef for real Irish flavor!

What You'll Need:
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seed
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 4 cups shredded green cabbage (about half a medium head)
What To Do:
  1.  In a large skillet over medium heat, heat all ingredients except cabbage 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  2.  Add cabbage and stir to coat. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer 20 minutes.

I have a question when you say shredded cabbage. Can you just use a cole slaw mix? Can you please let me know thanks

Yes, you can use a coleslaw mix. Enjoy!

I love this recipe for cabbage, but I cannot add the seeds to it. Is there anything you can add to this recipe if you cannot have seeds? I just made it without.

i have been eating cabbage since i was a little kid. it is great food & is good for you! thanks for the recipe.

The cabbage had a real good flavor.

What option?

I love the recipes on this site. To BrandyMaye tho, if you are not happy with a recipe, then skip it. But, do not take up space and whine about what others may like.
