Fort Lauderdale (January 8, 2009) — Today, on his nationally syndicated television news segment, Art Ginsburg, a.k.a. Mr. Food, announced the beginning of the search for recipe entries for the 2009 National Beef Cook-Off, to be held in Sonoma, California, this September. With the grand prize-winning recipe worth $25,000 in cash, “That could buy a lot of groceries!” Ginsburg quips. The contest encourages amateur chefs to experiment with recipes using any of the 29 lean cuts of beef such as bottom round roast or top round steak.
Responding to recipe requests made to www.mrfood.com, Mr. Food featured one of the tempting entries from the 2008 contest on today's show: an Asian-inspired skewered steak dish served with a refreshing pineapple salsa.
In his show, Mr. Food asks, "Why not give this contest a try? Either way, you can’t lose, because you’ll have a super dinner on the table for your gang – and maybe even have a chance to win a prize!" Having covered this event in past years, Mr. Food believes it is one to pay attention to, as it provides tasty, practical family meal ideas for any budget. And with food costs rising, good recipes for an all-American favorite like beef are, as Ginsburg always says..."OOH IT'S SO GOOD!!®"
