Fort Lauderdale, FL (October 5, 2009) — As part of a new feature called “Cookbook Corner” on his long-running nationally syndicated television news vignette, TV host Mr. Food, a.k.a. Art Ginsburg, welcomes Chef Marcela Valladolid. On today’s Mr. Food segment, Chef Marcela will be sharing her recipe for Chipotle Cream Shrimp from her new cookbook, FRESH MEXICO: 100 Simple Recipes for True Mexican Flavor.
Chef Marcela, who is currently host of Discovery Travel and Living’s “Relatos con Sabor” (“Stories with Flavor”), formerly served as a recipe tester/editor at Bon Appétit magazine and was also a contestant on The Apprentice: Martha Stewart.
Mr. Food invited Chef Marcela to his show today to address common misconceptions about Mexican cuisine. She explains simply that “there is no yellow cheese in real Mexican cooking.” Her new book dispels other stereotypical ideas that “Mexican food is strictly burritos, crunchy beef tacos, and nachos.” What intrigued Mr. Food the most was how practical many of Chef Marcela’s recipes are, and how the concept of the book is to deliver meals filled with fresh taste and flavor, without requiring hard-to-locate ingredients. This is similar to the Mr. Food cooking philosophy so, together, the pair easily demonstrates Chef Marcela’s tempting Chipotle Cream Shrimp recipe, available online at mrfood.com.
“Once you try this one, I know you’ll be tempted to see all the other recipes Chef Marcela filled her book with! This is definitely an eye-opening look at cooking south-of-the-border style; it is truly a fresh approach,” said Mr. Food.
The Mr. Food “Cookbook Corner” segment periodically showcases cookbook authors who share the Mr. Food philosophy of making food that is quick, easy and…“OOH IT'S SO GOOD!!”
