Mr. Food Binge Busters

 Binge Busters

Now and then we all need to binge, and knowing what to binge on can make all the difference in the world, without making you feel deprived.

Curb your cravings Curb your cravings
If it’s a fudge brownie or other rich sweets that tempt you, indulge just a little. Buy one small treat or split it with a friend. You’ll skimp on calories and satisfy your craving. If chocolate is your temptation, see my guide to the top 20 Chocolate Craving Killers.
Plan to indulge Plan to Indulge
That’s right; it’s okay to enjoy high-fat foods every now and then. Cutting certain foods completely from your diet only makes you crave them more. So enjoy a treat in moderation. Schedule a specific time when you can go crazy!
Know your limits Know Your Limits
It’s important to recognize what triggers your overeating. If you know you can’t stop, don’t frustrate yourself by starting, or if you feel you must, buy an individual serving bag rather than the super-size bag.
Shop smart Shop Smart
If the food’s not in your pantry, you can’t reach for it when a crisis strikes. Before you head into the supermarket, decide what you are – and aren’t – going to buy, and stick with it.
Drink up Drink Up
Too often, folks mistake thirst for hunger. Aim for a minimum of 8 (8-ounce) glasses of water daily. Make it easy by picking up a large water bottle and refill and drink it all day long. Sugar-free, non-caffeinated beverages
count toward that goal.
Shake your body Shake Your Booty
Find an exercise you like, and stick with it: dance, yoga, hula-hooping or whatever you like. Folks who are more physically active are less likely to overindulge a craving. Who wants to spoil a fantastic workout by blowing it on a slice of cake?
Eat everything Eat Everything
You’ve probably heard about cutting out carbs to lose weight. But I won’t totally cut out carbs or anything else I love! There’s no such thing as an unhealthy food – just unhealthy portions. Eat a variety of foods, and think moderation, not deprivation. Try my tricks in the Portion Pointers section.
Open wide Open Wide
Tempted to keep eating after a meal? Try this secret: Brush your teeth or gargle with mouthwash as soon as you finish eating. That’s a mental cue that you’re through, and you’ll wash away your taste for food.
