Sunny Mimosas

No brunch would be complete without the Mimosa, everyone's favorite rise 'n' shine cocktail. The fizz of the champagne and the sunshine of the OJ are the ultimate beverage team.

What You'll Need:
  • 2 quarts orange juice, chilled
  • 1 (750-ml) bottle champagne or sparkling wine, chilled (see Note)
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced
What To Do:
  1. In a large pitcher, combine orange juice and champagne. Immediately pour into champagne or wine glasses.
     
  2. Garnish each serving with an orange slice or a strawberry.
Note

For a nonalcoholic version of this brunch favorite, mix the orange juice with ginger ale or sparkling cider instead of champagne.

We're going back and forth about the orange juice, but what about the strawberry garnish? Orange juice champagne strawberry garnish? That sounds... divine. It sounds like a divinity that's unparalleled. The kind of divinity that, with one sip, you're like Connor MacLeod at the end of Highlander, standing atop a half-finished skyscraper with your arms thrust outward as the citrusy-champagne flows through you, and you're screaming at the top of your lungs, "I feel everything! I know... I know everything! I AM EVERYTHING!"

Some days, I just don't know how I feel about mimosas. Do I really want anything diluting my delicious orange juice? Does anyone agree with me?

I usually don't like anything diluting my delicious champagne, so I agree about being on the fence about mimosas! :)

Whoa there. I'm not coming to agree. I'm coming to convince you to try out the mimosa life. You 100% DO want champagne diluting your orange juice, I assure you. I tasted mimosas for the first time last month, and it opened up a whole new world. I can't believe people even want UNdiluted orange juice anymore, tbh. P.S. We all know apple juice is the superior breakfast juice, fyi.

I just feel like I'd rather have one glass of champagne, and one glass of orange juice, and then I'll sip them alternately over the course of brunch!!

I like mimosas and welcome the "dilution"! Sometimes I find orange juice to be too thick, so I think champagne is the perfect solution to that problem. I actually prefer mimosas over plain orange juice or plain champagne. As Hannah Montana once said, "Mix it all together and you know that it's the best of both worlds."

Isn't this the question? On one hand, I'm a child who thinks that all alcohol tastes nasty without sugary, citrusy drinks diluting it. On the other hand, I'd like to drink orange juice in the morning without being reminded of its previous escapades with champagne, vodka, and the like. Alas.

So like, I'm not a huge fan of orange juice or champagne (I know, I'm a heathen.) But the *idea* of mimosas makes me happy, because my first exposure to their existence was when I watched "The Incredibles" as a child, and Mr. Incredible drinks mimosas while on a flying robotic pod on his way to his first mission, which I don't think was a good idea, because *hello* that's going to affect his gains, and impair his judgment into the bargain.

I always know how to feel about mimosas. Happy. Unless they're made with orange juice that still has the pulp. Mama ain't got time for pulp. #StopPulp2017
