Mojito Fruit Salad

The weather's hot and you're craving something cool and refreshing that'll go great at your backyard get-together. Well, our Mojito Fruit Salad is not only packed with fresh flavors, but we've added some rum so that you can enjoy the hot summer days in style. We know that this adult-friendly Mojito Fruit Salad will be a hit every time you serve it up! One might say it's "rum-refreshing".
What You'll Need
- 8 cups fresh fruit, cut into 1-inch chunks
- 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves
- 1/4 cup rum
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup warm water
What to Do
- Place fruit in a large bowl; set aside.
- In a blender, combine remaining ingredients; blend until smooth. Pour mixture over fruit and toss gently until evenly coated. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.

- As for the type of rum, it can be whatever you have on hand -- light, dark…as long as it’s not spiced. That would not be a welcome addition.

How do we cut or use the mint leaves ? I was thinking of "mulling" Them like they do in a Mojito. They were good cut small but the recipe wasn't that specific. Thank you

After you combine the fruit, Step 2 instructs you to combine the remaining ingredients, which includes the mint. Since it is blended until smooth, you can add the mint anyway you like. Thank you.

my sister brought the ingredients for 4th of July celebration and we made it! It is by far the best fruit salad we ever tasted!! Used everything in recipe but wasn't sure to cut up the mint leaves or throw them in whole. We cut them up and put them in with the ingredients and mixed in blender! OOH it's so good!

Is there a good substitute for the rum as I'd like to serve this at a baby shower with women of the church and I don't want to use alcohol in it. Could you use a fruit juice like pineapple etc in place of the rum - I doubt that rum flavoring would work either. Please advise.

Hi Linda, If you prefer not to use rum, just leave it out. There is no need to replace it with anything. If you want to use pineapple juice, you can certainly try. Good luck and enjoy!

I would use Stevia instead. Equal is not good for you. My doctor suggested the Stevia.

Excellent! I added extra lime. I agree with the suggestion for ginger ale in place of rum. I don't think rum flavoring would be a good substitute at all. The mint and lime are what make it for me and the rum adds a richness.

I understand about the ingredients of a coctail..people use your own judgement and sub things as you'd like..also honey instead of sugar is good but adjust..don't use so much. Powdered ginger will add a kick to flavor and pineapple juice is a good liquid. Vodka can be used instead of rum if you prefer a different liquor too. Or omit altogether. The ginger will add a bit of kick flavor. Experement is the secret of all good cooking!!!

I bet coconut Rum would be great in this! I would think if you didn't want to use rum you could substitute with ginger ale, or 7-up and it would still be good.

It's called a Mojito Fruit Salad because it shares the most necessary ingredients for an mixed drink called a Mojito; those ingredients are rum, and mint. Perhaps you could substitute rum flavoring?
