If you've ever been to a Southern buffet or a church dinner, then you've probably already experienced the deliciousness of fluff. Fruity, fluffy, creamy, and just a bit crunchy, our Potluck Pistachio Fluff is one dish that doesn't stick around for long. That's 'cause folks will gobble it up so fast, you'll think it disappeared!
What You'll Need
- 1 (3.4-ounce) package pistachio instant pudding mix
- 2 (15-1/4-ounce) cans fruit cocktail, with liquid reserved from 1 can
- 1 cup miniature marshmallows
- 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 (12-ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
What to Do
- In a large bowl, combine pudding mix, fruit cocktail, reserved liquid, marshmallows, and nuts; mix well. Fold in whipped topping until thoroughly combined.
- Cover and refrigerate 1 hour, or until ready to serve.
Notes
There are so many different ways to make a fluff salad! For another variation, try our Banana Split Sundae Fluff or our Rocky Road Fluff. We think you'll agree that any way you make it, they're gonna love it!

I am going to try this but without nuts, can't so them. Sounds pretty good though.

We had company for a barbeque and made this which was light and fluffy. Nothing left so obviously a keeper.

This recipe sounds a little like Watergate salad which was a favorite of my Mom's. The only time I use pistachio instant pudding mix is for just that. Been a while, so I think I will make a little of this new recipe, potluck pistachio fluff.

How knew there was more than one way to prepare fluff salad? Thanks for the notes and the link to make, Banana Split Sundae Fluff or Rocky Road Fluff. I have to try them all.

This is a great recipe that my family enjoys around the holidays. Even if I make it for Thanksgiving, they are requesting it again at Christmas. It's hard to stop at one serving of this good stuff. It's addicting! This has been a favorite of my family's for about twenty years.

Hi there! In this recipe you simply add the unprepared pudding mix in step 1. Enjoy!

I've made one similar to this before, but it also had coconut in it. Yummy!

I made this to top off the Christmas meal. This is yummy! I substituted a can of pineapple tidbits for one of the fruit cocktails. Plan to make it again for New Year's.

We call this Watergate Salad, not sure why....but it is so good, and instead of fruit cocktail we always use crushed pineapple. A favorite for family get-togethers.

I used to make this in the 70's. It's tasty, quick, and easy, but relies on over processed ersatz ingredients. I would like to make it for "real". Do you have a recipe for real pistachio pudding, not from a box? And, can you substitute real whipped cream for the partially-hydrogenated-trans-fat-fake-stuff in a tub? That part is an easy sub- the real trick is finding a scratch-made pistachio pudding recipe that results in a taste as good as the one from a box.

Hello! - Unfortunately, we don't have a homemade pistachio pudding recipe just yet (but maybe someday!). You can use fresh whipped cream in this recipe, too, but it won't hold up as long as the frozen whipped cream since there is no stabilizer in the real cream.

Let's see if I have this straight. The pudding in the box is "ersatz", but it's hard to find a scratch-made pistachio pudding that tastes as good as the one from a box???

hehehehe. Now for a smart question. Is the pudding straight from the box or do you have to prepare it first? More specific please.

You don't prepare the pudding mix. Just add the powdered mix to the other ingredients.
