Stacked Taco Salad

This Stacked Taco Salad is a great main course dish that looks great on any party or dinner table. It's a hearty salad that you can put together in a flash!

What You'll Need:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 (1-1/4-ounce) package dry taco seasoning mix
  • 1 medium head iceberg lettuce, chopped
  • 2 cups (8 ounces) shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 (6-ounce) can dark red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (14-1/2-ounce) can corn, drained
  • 2 large tomatoes, diced
  • 2 (2-1/4-ounce) cans sliced black olives, drained
  • 1 (14-1/2-ounce) bag tortilla chips, crushed
  • 1 (16-ounce) bottle sweet-and-spicy French salad dressing
What To Do:
  1. In a medium skillet, brown ground beef with taco seasoning mix over medium-high heat, stirring to break up meat; drain and cool.
  2. In an extra-large salad bowl, layer half the lettuce then half the cheese, beans, corn, ground beef, tomatoes, and olives. Repeat layers then top with crushed tortilla chips. Just before serving, add dressing and toss to coat well.

This recipe is good with corn chips instead of tortilla chips. I also prefer Catalina or Russian dressing in place of French. Some people prefer salsa instead of dressing. This is great when feeding a large group. Yum!

You can substitute a can of mild chili beans for the kidney beans. Just yummy and makes a lot!

this recipe is just to totally awesome! I have not met 1 person yet that I served this to that did not like it... and they always want the recipe.....

It's also great if you serve it with the meat still hot - or, at least, still warm. Kind of wilts the lettuce, which we like.

Do you layer the beans, meat, tomatoes or put in all?

Just toss it all together as you would any salad before you eat it. If you want to layer it to make it look pretty for presentation, that is fine. Then, toss to eat.

Really good with taco flavored chips too!

I have eaten taco salads and have made my own from my own recipe by adding different spices until I got it just like my family likes it. But this looks and sounds so good that I am going to try it on my family tonight. I will tell you how all turned out after we have eaten it. Thank you so much.

I haven't tried this yet but I've been looking for a good Taco Salad recipe and this looks perfect.

I love tacos and taco salad, this recipe is the best one I have come across.
