I married into a the tradition of spending Christmas Eve with the extended family. My husband’s family is very large and every year we get together Christmas Eve for a huge dinner. We follow up with very silly reindeer games with white elephant gifts. Then Santa & Mrs Claus pay a visit for the little ones to sit on his lap and tell him their Christmas wish. This is the same Santa & Mrs Claus that visited my husband when he was a child. My in-laws neighbors dress to the nines and play the part every year!
What a great tradition! 🙂

My most favorite Holiday tradition of all is making special Eggnog Sugar Cookies with the entire family – Men and Elderly included!!! It was a tradition that started one year at “Grammy’s house” using several large tables to spread it out so we could all participate! it was such a hit that it is revisited each year with all of us doing something: mixing, rolling, cutting, baking and decorating the cookies! We have about a hundred metal cookie cutters so it’s a lot of fun for all to see the different shapes. The recipe is an easy one, but it makes the MOST DELICIOUS cookies I’ve ever had as far as a rolled cookie and best part is EASY to work with, rolling and cutting! No sticky mess! Of course, eventually we get to eat some AFTER they are baked, and they are yummy! We all take some home! We love the SPECIAL time together doing a non-traditional activity together, sharing laughter, love and making memories! <3
