DIY Valentine’s Day Food Ideas + Giveaway!

I love surprising my loved ones with out-of-the-ordinary gifts that show them how much they mean to me. And there’s no better day to do that than on Valentine’s Day. Last year, I surprised my coworkers with their own Pet Rock Valentine Cards, based on an idea I found on Pinterest.

PetRock

I love seeing their “pets” on their desk!

Everyone’s rock had their own (made-up) biography inside the card, with a special Valentine’s Day greeting too!

This year I wanted to pass on my love for all things creative and new by sharing some interesting food-related Valentine’s Day ideas I found online. And if you read all the way to the end, there’s even a chance for you to win a fun Valentine’s Day treat for your sweetheart.

Fun-Valentine-Food-Ideas-Collage

Clockwise from top left:

Long-Stemmed Chocolate Chip Flower Cookies: Chocolate chip cookies are always welcome, but to make them Valentine’s Day special, try presenting them the way you would a bouquet of roses. They’ll treasure them to the very last crumb.

Mini Heart Shape Pizzas: Everyone already loves pizza, so all you need to make a favorite dinner idea extra-special is to make ‘em mini and heart-shaped! Bonus points if you serve them with mini pepperoni hearts too.

Valentine’s Day Popcorn Pops: Red and pink candy help give these popcorn balls their Valentine’s Day look, and when you present them with cute labels – “You make my heart pop!” or “Have a Poppin’ Valentine’s” there’s no way they’re going to be able to resist saying, “Awww…”

Valentine Fruit Tags: I love this healthy Valentine’s Day idea. Just place your fruit of choice in clear or decorated baggies with fun tags like “You are the apple of my eye!”

Very Berry Dessert Nachos: These dessert nachos will help make your Valentine’s Day “berry good.” Put on a movie, snuggle up on the couch, and dig in!

Cupid’s Love Pies: Nothing says love like a heart-shaped pie that they can literally hold in one hand. Plus, they’re stuffed with chocolate hazelnut spread and strawberry jam, which is a lovely combination!

Bacon Bouquet: You read that right. A bouquet made out of bacon “flowers.” Need I say anything else?

Valentine Donut Printables: Package up your favorite store-bought donut holes or make-your-own (with some seasonal sprinkles!) Then, you can and add fun labels to them, like “I donut know what I’d do without you.”

Aren’t these all great ideas? If you want even more Valentine’s Day ideas, check out last year’s blog post or download our FREE eCookbook, Recipes for Romance: 30 Valentine’s Day Desserts and Drink Recipes.

Finally, as promised…

We’re giving away One (1) “Say It With Love Giant Fortune Cookie” from www.fancyfortunecookies.com. This giant fortune cookie is dipped in chocolate, stuffed with candy hearts, and will even include a special message (your choice).

The best gift I received for Valentine’s day wasn’t an object. When my daughter was seven she had saved a little money from Christmas gifts and asked me to take her to buy valentine gifts for her brother, grandparents, cousins and aunts and uncles. I was so proud of her and still cherish her giving spirit. She gave me a gift that will last us both a lifetime.

I am a single mom and she wanted me to know that you don’t have to be lovers to enjoy Valentine’s Day and she wanted me to know how much I was loved!! Not only did it bring tears to my eyes, but I was bursting with pride that someone so young could embrace that idea and share it with me!!

We generally skip Valentines and opt to celebrate our engagement anniversary that is the day after Valentines. It is not big gifts that matter but small tokens of appreciation or a little something extra to say I love you. Some of my favorites are notes hidden around my path to get ready in the morning, there was one in the closet when I got a shirt, followed but one in the pants drawer of the dresser, another on the bathroom mirror, one in the fridge when I went to pack my lunch, and another on the steering wheel of the car. These little notes are so special since it shows he took the time to plan out multiple surprises to make me smile.

She emptied the blcandy box of the candy it contained and inserted a cardboard heart that had an adorable baby picture glued in the center of the heart and Hershey chocolate kisses where glued all around the heart with the wording “SURPRISE–you will be gifted with a grand baby is August–Love and Kisses”

I had a treasure hunt with clues that I had to figure out and they were all over the house. Each clue led me closer to my valentine gift. Finally I went through all the clues and found a suitcase with a card to our favorite B&B for which my husband took me. Very romantic!! Happy Valentin’s Day

As a former elementary teacher, I remember watching my students put a great deal of effort toward creating simple Valentine cards for their family and friends. My husband began making Valentine cards for me many years ago. The cards are simple, yet mean more to me than any store-bought cards I’ve ever received. If I could spy on him, I’m sure he’d look as intense in his efforts as my former students did. He’s a big kid at heart!

KATHY, Please accept my deepest sympathy. I don’t know how old your daughter was, but if she were still with you, she would want to celebrate Valentine’s Day. So if you have a husband, boyfriend, Mother, Sister that you love, let them know it. We recently lost our Mother, and I always sent her cards for every occasion. I don’t get to do that this year. May love heal your broken heart.

The happiest valentine day was when my late son got married on a Tuesday on valentine’s day. He made me so proud of him. He overcame addiction at 20 then went and graduated from Penn State and at 24 married a lovely girl and had three beautiful children and at 34 he died.

The best gift I ever received were two Pandora charms – one from my step daughter (age 9) and one from my step son (age 7). My step daughters was a set of 2 charms one said Mother and the other “Daughter” so we each had a piece on our bracelet. My step sons said “I Love You Mommy” on it. These were SO precious to me because they don’t call me Mommy, I am called Heather but they were able to show their love and affection for me in something I can wear everyday – and I do! 🙂 <3

I love to do the 29 days of Love with them and do little things throughout the whole month. This would be perfect little treat to show them how "fortunate" I am to have them in my life! 🙂
