Can you believe it’s already 2015? Last year just flew right on by! The start of the new year symbolizes a fresh start. It’s a time for you to put your bad habits to the wayside and resolve to accomplish new goals.

One of the most common New Year’s resolutions is to adopt a healthier lifestyle through more exercise, more sleep, and a health-conscious diet. If you’ve resolved to eat lighter in 2015, then we’ve got some great recipes to help keep you on track!

Healthy Eating in the New Year

1. 30-Minute Turkey Stew: Turkey is one of our favorite meat substitutes when we’re looking to eat a little healthier. It’s a lean meat that has lots of protein and could help lower your cholesterol. How’s that for a healthier lifestyle?!

2. Crispy Oven-Fried Chicken: Fried chicken is one of those go-to comfort foods that’s so hard to resist. This oven-baked chicken favorite is one of our favorite alternatives to the unhealthier fried option.

3. Warm Honey Walnut Salad: This is one of our favorite winter salads ’cause it uses a seasonal fruit… pear! The combination of fruit, vegetables, and nuts packs a powerful (and nutritious!) punch.

4. Five-Minute Shrimp: Seafood is another great source of nutrients without being as high in fat and calories. Feel free to substitute margarine for the butter to make it even lighter!

5. Skillet Eggplant Parmigiana: Eggplant is one of those vegetables that works well with tons of different dinners. It’s substantial enough to work as the main ingredient in an entree, and this simple skillet recipe is one of our most popular!

6. Roasted Pork Chops and Vegetables: Pork chops are a budget-friendly meat that can also be made healthier by your cooking method. The veggies on the side help make this one a complete meal!

7. Skinny Mini Fettuccine: Fettuccine Alfredo is a popular dish at fancy Italian restaurants. If you’re looking to stick to your New Year’s resolution, stay in and whip up this lighter version! You won’t even have to get dressed up.

8.  Open-Faced Avocado Sandwiches: Avocadoes are one of those good-for-you fruits we simply can’t get enough of. Open-faced sandwiches are great ’cause they cut down on starch without cutting out any flavor!

9. Steak Provencal: This all-in-one dinner recipe combines protein with veggies for a dish that’s bursting with taste!

We’re not the only ones with fantastic healthy recipes! Check out some of our favorite ones from across the web below.
