How to Make: Blackberry Frozen Yogurt

July 29, 2016 by admin Leave a Comment

When I was younger, one of my favorite parts about the summertime was going to my grandparents’ house. There, my grandma grew fresh fruits and vegetables like apples and tomatoes. I remember getting to eat fresh berries the day that they were picked and even helping her make jams and jellies along with my sister.

This summer I’m craving those same flavors that take me back to my childhood, so I asked the Test Kitchen what they thought I should make. I told Patty that I wanted something that tasted delicious, but also wasn’t too heavy. Between summer cookouts with friends and celebrating birthdays with family I didn’t want a dessert that would make me feel guilty after eating it. And, since it’s really hot here in Florida, it’s the perfect time to cool down with a Blackberry Frozen Yogurt.

Step One: Gather all of your ingredients. Here, I’ve got frozen blackberries, non-fat vanilla Greek yogurt, vanilla extract, sugar-free sweetener, and almond milk.

Don’t those blackberries look delicious? I can’t wait until they’re blended with that fluffy Greek yogurt!

Step Two: In a small bowl, combine yogurt, almond milk, vanilla extract and sugar-free sweetener.

Step Three: Put the blackberries in a blender and pour the yogurt mixture on top of it.

Step Four: Pulse in 20 second intervals, stirring between each, until fully blended.

Attempt 5Step Five: Pour your mixture in a bowl and freeze it until it’s firm. Once it’s frozen, you can take a big scoop, ‘cause it’s ready to eat or serve it up like I did (below)!

Check out that yummy purple color from all of the juicy berries!

And here’s how I served mine:

Another thing I love about this recipe is that you can use fresh blackberries that you’ve frozen after picking them or you can just buy the ones from the freezer section at the grocery store for a shortcut. No matter which way you do it, you’ll love the fresh berry flavor in this frozen yogurt recipe.

You can bet that I’ll be sharing this recipe with my sister this summer! For now, I want to know:

What’s your favorite flavor of frozen yogurt?
