“Spread the Happy” with Quick & Easy Recipes + A Giveaway!

August 12, 2014 by Merly 183 Comments

Nutella – have you tried the stuff? It’s a chocolate hazelnut spread that’s been around for 50 years. Yep, I had no idea they’d been around that long either, but this past weekend I found out that they’re touring the country to celebrate their anniversary and “spread the happy” with all of their fans.  Of course, when I learned that they were coming to a city near me I had to go get my own fill of happy.

Nutella Spread the Happy Tour

I could basically eat this stuff right out of the jar (spoon optional).

Nowadays, people are putting this chocolate hazelnut spread on everything. But since it’s back-to-school season and I know most of us are looking for quick and easy ways to fuel our kids, and ourselves, in the morning, I thought I’d show you some great ways to use this tasty treat.

For breakfast, I thought I’d start with Chocolate-Hazelnut Banana Bliss. I got this recipe from Easy Home Meals, which has a bunch of deliciously simple recipes that use convenient ingredients from the frozen and refrigerated aisles.

Chocolate-Hazelnut Banana Bliss

Of course, you can leave out the chocolate syrup and whipped topping if you want to make this a little healthier!

For lunch, you can try swapping out the peanut butter in our recipe for Grilled PB & M with chocolate hazelnut spread. I’m pretty confident that this sandwich can put a smile on anyone’s face.

One of the goals of Nutella’s “spread the happy” tour is to encourage people to share how they love to enjoy Nutella. You can see some of the crazy concoctions on Nutella’s Tumblr page. I wanted to try something a little different too, so I found this recipe for Dessert Grilled Cheese.

Dessert Grilled Cheese

Believe it or not, this flavor combination is actually pretty good!

If you’re looking for a traditional dessert recipe to treat yourself (or the kids) to after a long day, I recommend our No-Bake Chocolate Cake or Chocolate Hazelnut Torte. Neither of them require any baking, which makes them the perfect easy dessert to enjoy.

No-Bake-Chocolate-Cake-OR

Irresistibly good!

Back-to-school season affects all of us. Whether you’re Mom, and you need to make sure the kids have everything they need to get through the day, or you’re me and you just need to get out the door before school traffic holds you up, we’re all looking for quick and easy recipes to fuel our day.

For even more quick and easy recipe ideas, be sure to check out our free eCookbook, Cool Fuel for School: 30 Recipes for Kid-Friendly Meals. In this cookbook you’ll find over 30 recipes that kids of all ages will love!

Cool Fuel for School

There are so many different ways to enjoy Nutella!

Nutella

Do you like spreading it over frozen waffles in the morning, or are you more of a “grab a spoon and dig in” kind of person? Have you tried it on fruit slices?

We love Nutella in my house! I grew up loving it too, back in the 1980s it wasn’t easy to find around here though, but luckily when we went to Germany my mom would bring lots back, I remember one time the customs people questioning about hte Nutella, toothpaste, and salami we had packed. I was so scared they were going to take my Nutella, but they let us keep it. Now I can find it almost anywhere. My 2 youngest have a favorite treat called “a special” it is Nutella on a spoon with some type of cereal ( it varies which kind) crushed or placed on top then put into the freezer. They just love eating “a special” 🙂

I grew up in europe, with nutella, all of my life lol, and i love it straight from the spoon and spread on bread of bagels or “pfankuchen” equally 🙂 However, one of my favorites ways of polishing of a jar of nutella, is by heating up some milk, and pouring it into the jar of leftover Nutella…..this makes the best hot chocolate, and hey, there’s not even the tiniest little bit of nutella wasted 😉
