Call me crazy, but I believe food has magical emotional healing powers. No really, I do! When I’m down in the dumps, you’ll see me reaching for my favorite comforting dishes. Certain foods just bring me relief and elevate my mood. Some days all I need is a decadent chocolate dessert. While other days, nothing cheers me up like tomato soup and a gooey grilled cheese. Honestly, it’s a bit unbelievable how my diet and emotional well-being are so closely tied. So, I guess it’s a good thing I’ve figured out my comfort food cures!
What do you think of when you hear comfort food? Personally, I immediately see and taste a creamy chicken pot pie, but it’s different for everyone. I’d say any food that consistently puts a smile on your face is a comforting food. For some people it’s a sweet treat while others prefer the coziness of savory dishes.
