It's the Mac-Daddy of them all - the good ol' burger! For so many of us, two burgers topped with sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions ("the works," as we still call it!), is a long-time favorite. Go ahead - give our homemade version a try!

What You'll Need

  • 4 uncut sesame seed hamburger buns
  • 8 thin hamburger patties
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 cup Thousand Island dressing
  • 2 cup shredded lettuce
  • 4 slices (4 ounces) American cheese
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 8 slices dill pickles

What to Do

  1. Slice each hamburger bun horizontally into thirds; set aside. Form ground beef into eight thin patties.

  2. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium-low heat and cook patties in batches 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until no longer pink.

  3. Spread half of dressing over four bottom bun sections then sprinkle with half of lettuce. Place a cooked hamburger patty on each and top with a slice of cheese. Sprinkle onion over cheese then top with center bun section.

  4. Spread remaining half of dressing over top of center bun sections then sprinkle with remaining half of lettuce. Top each with remaining hamburger patties, 2 dill pickles, and top bun section.

  5. Serve, or wrap in waxed paper, then serve.
