Early settlers rushed across America to pan for gold. But today you can find this "gold" right in your own kitchen pan.

What You'll Need

  • 1 two-pound beef top sirloin steak (about 1 inches thick), trimmed
  • 1/2 cup bourbon whiskey
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 stick butter

What to Do

  1. In a deep skillet, brown the steak over high heat for 4 minutes, turning halfway through the cooking.

  2. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine the remaining ingredients except the butter; mix well. After the steak is browned, add the butter to the pot and reduce the heat to low. When the butter is melted, add the whiskey mixture and cook for 18 to 20 minutes, or to desired doneness, turning halfway through the cooking.

  3. Remove the steak to a cutting board and cut across the grain into thin slices. Serve the steak topped with the sauce.
