Looking for that perfect, homemade roll to pair with your evening meal? When then look no further than this easy, cheesy recipe for Cheese Muffins! Bring 'em over to the in-laws over the holidays or bake up a batch to serve to your family throughout the week, this cheesy bread recipe will certainly become your go-to.

What You'll Need

  • 2 tablespoon butter, divided
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 1/2 cup biscuit baking mix
  • 1 cup (4 ounces) shredded Cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted

What to Do

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a small skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion; sauté 3 minutes or until tender.
     
  2. Combine onion mixture, biscuit mix, and 1/2 cup cheese in a medium bowl; make a well in center of mixture. In a small bowl, combine milk and egg; add to dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened. Spoon batter into greased muffin pans, filling half full. Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup cheese and the sesame seeds. Dot with remaining 1 tablespoon butter.
     
  3. Bake 13 minutes or until muffins are golden. Remove from pans immediately.

Notes

For muffins with a bit of heat, substitute 1 cup of Monterey Jack cheese with peppers for the Cheddar cheese.
