Grandma Casey is a friend of ours who gave us this recipe from her Montana kitchen. You're only five ingredients away from Grandma Casey's Crunch Candy that's nutty-sweet and delicious!

What You'll Need

  • 2 stick butter, each cut into 8 pieces
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 6 ounce slivered almonds
  • 1 (12-ounce) package milk chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped walnuts

What to Do

  1. In a saucepan over high heat, combine butter, sugar, and almonds. Stir in one direction, constantly. After 6 to 8 minutes, the mixture will reach a toffee color. You may hear the nuts start to pop before you reach the desired color. Do not stop mixing until it's done or it will separate or burn.
  2. Once it reaches the toffee color, pour onto an ungreased baking sheet and spread evenly, using the back of a wooden spoon. Work quickly because it starts to harden fast.
  3. Pour chocolate chips over toffee and spread them out; let them sit for a few minutes. The heat from the candy will melt the chocolate. Spread chocolate until smooth then top with walnuts. Refrigerate until chocolate hardens, then break into pieces.

Notes

Before you start this recipe, make sure you will be able to stand in front of the stove uninterupted for about 10 minutes because you must stir continuously.
