Crisscross Ham and Cheese Sandwich

This Crisscross Ham and Cheese Sandwich makes an easy springtime lunch! If have leftover Easter ham, this is a fantastic way to make a quick and tasty meal. Serve with strawberry jam for a sweet dipping side!

What You'll Need

  • 1 tablespoon butter, softened
  • 1 slice cheese, American, Cheddar or Swiss
  • 2 slices, soft whole wheat bread
  • 4 slices, deli ham
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • strawberry jam, if desired

What to Do

  1. Heat sandwich press.
     
  2. Spread butter on 1 side of each slice bread. Lay bread, butter-side-down, on clean surface.
     
  3. Spread 1 slice with mustard. Top with ham, cheese and remaining slice bread, butter-side-up.
     
  4. Cook in waffle iron 4 to 6 minutes or until golden and crisp.
     
  5. Serve with strawberry jam for dipping or spreading.
