Lunch Box Philly Pita

SERVES
4

If I told you it was possible to make a Philly cheese sandwich hours in advance and wrap it up to be microwaved right before eating, you probably wouldn't believe it. Well, believe me - and give it a try!

What You'll Need

  • 1 pound thinly sliced deli roast beef, coarsely chopped
  • 1 cup (4 ounces) finely shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1 (2.8-ounce) container French-fried onions
  • 4 (6-inch) pita breads, each cut in half

What to Do

  1. In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients except the bread; mix well.

  2. Place equal amounts of the mixture in each pita half. Wrap each half in waxed paper, then heat and serve, or chill until ready to serve.

  3. When ready to serve, heat in the microwave until heated through and the cheese is melted.

Notes

These can also be unwrapped and heated in a 350 degree F. oven on a baking sheet for a few minutes, but they make a perfect brown bag lunch, since microwaves can now be found in most offices and lunch rooms. In minutes you'll be enjoying a hot Philly cheese steak sandwich!
