If you've never tried this, now's the perfect time. Rich and creamy, this seafood stew is truly supreme!

What You'll Need

  • 8 (½-gallon) cups milk
  • 1 stick butter
  • 2 (8-ounce) containers shucked fresh oysters, rinsed and drained (see Note)
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

What to Do

  1. In a soup pot, combine the milk and butter over medium heat for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the butter is melted.

  2. Add the remaining ingredients and cook for 4 to 6 minutes, or until the oysters are firm and cooked through and the stew is hot.

Notes

I think that oyster crackers must have been invented to go along with this stew! Even if they weren't, I still like to serve plenty of them with it.
