In Beaufort, South Carolina, where this dish hails from, folks just spread newspaper on the table and dump this stew right on it. Then it's every person for himself as everybody grabs and eats what he wants. It's a perfect "serve yourself" dinner.

What You'll Need

  • 8 cup water
  • 2 tablespoon seafood seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 1 pound kielbasa sausage, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 6 potatoes, cut in half
  • 6 onions, peeled and cut in half
  • 3 ears of corn, cut into 3-inch pieces
  • 1 pound large shrimp, unpeeled

What to Do

  1. In a soup pot, combine water, seafood, seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil over high heat then add sausage, potatoes, onions, and corn. Cook 15 to 20 minutes, or until potatoes are fork-tender.
