What You'll Need

  • 12 caramel candies
  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • 2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cup water
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 (12-ounce) French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

What to Do

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat an 8-inch-square baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a saucepan over low heat, combine caramels, sweetened condensed milk, butter, vanilla, and salt, stirring occasionally until caramels melt. Remove saucepan from heat and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine water and eggs; beat well. Stir in caramel mixture. Add bread cubes and walnuts, and stir until evenly coated. Let stand 5 minutes, then stir again. Pour into prepared baking dish.
  4. Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm.
