Easy, unusual, and F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S are the greatest words we can use to describe this Onion Relish! Get excited because it will become your new best friend. This relish is great on burgers, hotdogs, and many things in between!

What You'll Need

  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 (14.5-ounce) can sauerkraut, well drained
  • 1/3 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds

What to Do

  1. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sugar; cook, stirring constantly, 10 minutes or until sugar turns a light caramel color. Add onion and sauerkraut; simmer, uncovered, over medium heat 10 minutes, stirring often. (Sugar will harden when onion and sauerkraut are added but will dissolve as mixture simmers.) Add vinegar and caraway seeds; simmer, uncovered, 15 minutes. Store, uncovered, in refrigerator up to 1 week.
