Coleslaw is an almost universal dish, and everybody has his or her own way of making it. If you've got a favorite, fine. But Sunny Slaw is a simple one that works every time!

What You'll Need

  • 1/3 cup white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons grated or minced onion
  • 1/2 medium-sized green cabbage, shredded or 6 cups shredded green cabbage
  • 1 cup shredded carrots

What to Do

  1. In a small bowl, combine vinegar, sugar, oil, salt, and onion.

  2. Place shredded cabbage in a large bowl, pour dressing over cabbage, and toss.

  3. Transfer slaw to a salad bowl and arrange shredded carrots around top to form a decorative border.

Very purty ! I'll be a makin' and aplatin' just as shown.

Can I substitute brown sugar and canola oil?

Yes, you can substitute canola oil and brown sugar. Your coleslaw will have a light brownish color, but will still taste great!

was grrreat with dinner and I loved it so did the company . I will be usin it again ty it was wonderful we loved it

I think I would use rice vinegar instead, and yes it is always eathier to not use mayo in everything.

It appears that this would be a lighter version of the traditional mayonnaise based coleslaw and it is a very attractive side dish. Thanks
