Our hearty Rustic Homestyle Potatoes are stick-to-your-ribs delicious. When you want to welcome your family home to some true comfort, this is the go-along for you.

What You'll Need

  • 1 (30-ounce) package frozen country-style hash browns
  • 1 (10-3/4-ounce) can cream of potato soup, undiluted (see note)
  • 1 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup (4 ounces) shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

What to Do

  1. In a 5-quart slow cooker that's been coated with cooking spray, combine all ingredients except cheese.

  2. Cover and cook on LOW setting 5 hours. Stir in cheese, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • We like these best with cream of potato soup, but the dish would be just as delicious using cream of celery or mushroom soup. Use whichever flavor you prefer or have on hand.

  • Make it a meal with the addition of some Honey Garlic Drumsticks!

Looks great! There are so many recipes that use cream soups and frozen potatoes, so I have decided to make these staples in my pantry and freezer.

I am going to make this tonight in the oven so I appreciate seeing alternative directions for this method. Will rate it after we taste!

I'm wondering why so many ratings are done before the recipe has been tried?

Don't have a slowcooker How can cooking time be adjusted for oven cooking?

Cook in a 350 degree oven for about 50 -60 minutes or until heated through and golden.

Trying this right now with cream of onion soup. Oh...my...mercy does it smell good and it hasn't even warmed up yet.

Wondering if it smelled so good you wouldn't rate it better?

I like the fact that these recipes are "tried and true" as well as the fact that the recipes are run through the test kitchen. So really if you think the site is an "ugly waste of time" then move along to another recipe site. Don't even waste your time (and ours) by writing derogatory comments.

this will go great with the slow roasted country ribs, gets betterer & betterer

This is what's for sup tonight. Yum-O!!!!

Very cheese. Very good flavor and easy to make.
