After reading the reviews the sugar part turned me off. THANKS LADIES!! But it DOES look scrumptious !!!!

melts in your mouth!! true a bit sweet, but second batch got 2/3c sugar....and my 17 year old grand daughter took recipe home with her pan of strawberry cheesecake bars.

These are better than great!! My whole family loved them and ask me to make them again.

I got a little bit 'scared' about making these after having read some of the comments, but...we really liked these. I think the sweetness some people complained about is actually in the strawberry cake mix crust. My husband enjoyed these immensely with a nice cup of coffee. I will certainly do these again.

Disappointing.. this recipe needs to be tweaked. First of all, one cup of powdered sugar is ample. If you use two cups of powdered sugar for the topping it's way to sweet and uneditable. Secondly, the topping should only be combined with one egg, 1 cup of powdered sugar, and 1 cream cheese. I didn't like the topping tasted, so I would of prefered a no bake cheesecake feel. I also didn't like the cake portion. It came out rather chewy/weird and it was cooked. I would of followed the box instructions and then try other methods for the topping. I just wasn't to pleased.

Keeper would make again

WAY too much sugar!!!!

I made these and they were delicious..

Too much powdered sugar! They were so sweet even my sweet tooth son thought they were over the top with sugar. Cut the powder sugar to 1 cup and they became edible.

I did not think much of these when I made them, but after they set, the next day everyone loved them. Very sweet, cut small.

Absolute best dessert I've ever had! I gave my mother the recipe and she fixed it for her senior citizen get-together...You would have thought these people never seen food before! It was gone in a flash!

I made these for my Mom for Mother's Day - and they were a huge hit! I didn't have a whole box of pwd sugar, so maybe mine were great because the toping was less sugary. My Dad - who is a cookie monster - said this was the best "different" thing I ever made, please make him one in lemon - which I plan to do for Father's Day!

I love sweets and all things sugary, but this was not good. The strawberry cake part tasted like plastic and the top, like some of the others said, was was too sweet.

For the Strawberry Cheesecake Bars, it call for 16 ounces of powdered sugar, does that mean 1# = 16 ounces of powdered sugar or 2 cups which is also 16 ounces?

I think a box of powdered sugar is way too much. That's 4 cups of sugar. I'm getting a toothache just thinking about it. I would go with the 2 cups.

Faye, the correct amount of powdered sugar in this recipe is 16 ounces, which is a one pound box. Thank you for asking and enjoy!

I like sweet, but this was way too sweet. Will try them again with less powdered sugar to taste results.

I thought these were horrible and I know I followed the directions precisely. They turned out so sweet that neither myself or my daughter could eat them. I had to scrape 1/2 or more of the cream cheese topping off in order to eat it at all. I would only use 1/2 box of confectionary sugar, if that much.

This recipe is soooo easy. And the end results are awesome. These bars are delicious. My boyfriend has made me make them for him and friends 3 times now and everyone loves them. I think next time we will try it with lemon like so many others have done...thanks so much Mr. Food!!!!!!

This was totally awesome! I have made it twice now. Once with strawberry cake mix and another with lemon. My friends can't get enough and there are never any bars left on my plate when I take them to a party.

Made these for Mothers Day and everyone loved them. I served them with whipped topping and fresh strawberries on top. Yum!

Made these for Mother Day & they was a big hit ty mr food

This was MUCH to sweet for us. I either need to add more cream cheese or less powdered sugar. Everyone was greatly disappointed.

Did anyone have this problem...? I followed the recipe directly as written, but the cream cheese topping never congealed.

I would add thawed strawberries to the mix (thawed strawberries are soft and easy to blend in the cake batter. I'm making one for mother's day!

I baked this today, it is simple and delicious!

I have made this recipe successfully for years with a lemon cake mix. Strawberry cheesecake for summer sounds like a nice change. Can't wait to try it!

RE powdered sugar Powdered has cornstarch This sounds typical for filling When adding ingredients with powdered sugar it can be combining ingredients to get the consistency texture Powdered sugar is not any worse than granulated sugar I can add granulated sugar all day long and get runny mess Whereas the combining of ingredients is more stable with powdered sugar cups is not really enough to frost a layer cake If you have ever done a lot of baking you become familiar with the big amounts of X X confectioner's sugar used necessary for good outcomes The cream cheese eggs liquid vanilla would not have the same success with substitutes or less than called for in recipes When recipes are altered unprofessionally they usually flop The confectioner's sugar is not just for sweetness in this recipe Altering called for ingredients will alter final product Some artificial pariially artificial sweetners alter chemical reactionsRead More in recipes I hope this helps I love to cook and plan to try this without alteration so I will get exactly the desired outcome I know it will be very good I would not try altering the ingredients because the exactness is key If I combined all ingredients together and poured into baking pan-the end result will not be same as correct combining sequence will be

The cheese cake I think my husband would like.

Since so many have questioned if 1 pound of powered sugar is correct, could someone comment and verify this? Thank you so much! Can't wait to try it!

I think it's a great recipe, but where is the nutritional info? As with so mayn other recipes, it's not listed.

It looks delicious. I'm gonna try it for my mom on Mother's Day.

I will try this for my church ladies.

I don't think a box of powered sugar is too much. My recipe for Texas Cake frosting has a box of powered sugar in it.

I am gonna try this with a gluten free cake mix so my Mom can try it on Mother's Day since she loves cheesecake and hard to make a gluten free one.

I hope you can make this for your Mom/ I love strawberry anything.I might add sliced fresh strawberries. sprinkle shredded coconut on top for variation. Maybe sliced chocolate dipped strawberries on top. I have to try this one. Please let us know how the gluten free turns out.

could splenda be substituted for some of the powderd sugar. Help a diabetic, please!

Yes ..... put splenda in a food processor or blender and blend until it's the same consistancy as powdered sugar. It's the same as.

Going to try this one for sure.

as usual, Mr. Food and his test kitchen continues to develop GREAT recipes. Am adding this to my treasured ideas from you. I am also worried about a whole box of pwd. sugar..will probably add to taste. Thanks and keep your GREAT ideas coming!!!

I think it is great. Thanks.

this looks so good, as strawberry cake is my favorite, so I can't wait to try it!

a whole box of powdered sugar does sound like alot...is this a correct amount?

looks delish, cant wait to try, will it work with other flovored cakes? i'm thinking lemon would be so fresh and summer like too!

A whole pound of powdered sugar?

A whole pound of anything sounds like a lot. But it takes more than 2 cups (1 lb.)of confectioner's sugar to frost a 10' 2 layer cake.Check out Baker's recipes for frostings puddings, etc. That would give a better idea what a "lot"of powdered sugar is. Hope this helps with the "lot" idea. good luck
