"Pot Roast" is a way to cook a piece of meat, as opposed which involves long, moist cooking. It is cooked in a pot, in the oven or on the stove, with liquid. Unlike a roast that is done in the oven with dry heat in an open roaster. The kind of meat (beef, pork, game) does not matter, it's the style of cooking. The vegetables and brown gravy are only one way of serving pot roast. That said, brisket makes a wonderful pot roast as well as a delicious smoked roast. I'm a Winter Texan and we LOVE our brisket cooked any way at all.

Brisket and pot roast are two different things. You bbq or smoke a brisket. You cook a pot roast with carrots and potatoes... in a brown gravy..

I think it's a humorous title, like calling a Suburban a Texas Cadillac. As a Texan, I can say we make brisket a hundred different ways for most occasions, just as everyone else makes pot roast. Beef... it's what's for dinner!

cook I do this in the slow cooker? how long would I cook it for?

Hey! The test kitchen has not tried this in a slow cooker, but thinks it should work. We reckon a 4-5 pound brisket will take 7-8 hours on low. Let us know how it turns out!

Oh, I would slow cook it for far longer than that. Brisket is one tough piece of meat. 8-10 hours would be more like it for one that size.
