Check out our video and tips below on how to cook a pumpkin. Once you learn how easy it is you'll always want to have a pie pumpkin on hand. Hey, maybe you'll make pumpkin pie from scratch this year?

  1. Wash and dry off a pie pumpkin then place it on a dish towel. Make sure to use a pie pumpkin and not a carving pumpkin.
  2. Use a sharp knife to cut the pumpkin into chunks and then use a spoon to remove the seeds. First, cut the pumpkin in half then, lay the two halves flat-side down and cut the pumpkin into chunks. Remove the seeds from each chuck with a spoon.
  3. Cook the pumpkin one of two ways: bake it in the oven or saute it on the stove.

    Bake in the Oven
    • Place the pumpkin chunks into a roasting dish. Drizzle with olive oil and season.
Cook at 350 degrees F for about 45 minutes or until tender. When the skin starts to separate from the flesh the pumpkin is done!
    Saute on the Stove
    • For this method remove the skin from the pumpkin chunks.
Place the pumpkin into a hot skillet with a little butter and season as desired.
Saute the pumpkin until tender. Serve and enjoy warm!
