What You'll Need

  • 1/3 cup chopped chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

What to Do

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 9- x 5-inch loaf pan with cooking spray.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine chocolate chips, walnuts, brown sugar, and cinnamon; mix well and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, with an electric mixer, beat butter and sugar until creamy. Beat in eggs, bananas, and vanilla. Add flour, baking soda, and salt; mix well.
  4. Pour half the batter into loaf pan. Evenly sprinkle with chocolate chip mixture and pour remaining batter on top.
  5. Bake 60 to 65 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out dry. Let cool 20 minutes, then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.

First of all, I love banana bread! Now I've found this recipe with walnuts and chocolate chips. I have to make this soon. This recipe sounds like a good breakfast bread or dessert. I will enjoy it warm out of the oven with a cup of coffee. Thanks for the great recipe!

Good morning. Love that you still have the Mr.Food segment on. My mom and I never miss it,if we are going to be away at that time than we record it lol. Can I leave out the chocolate chips in this recipe and if so are there any adjustments needed to the recipe? Thanks in advance for a reply.
