This easy but tasty treat is a perfect way to start dinner. Don't let anyone eat too much, though, 'cause they've gotta save room for supper!

What You'll Need

  • 3 grapefruits, cut in half crosswise
  • 6 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 6 maraschino cherries

What to Do

  1. Preheat the broiler.

  2. Using a knife, loosen the grapefruit sections from the peel and place the grapefruit halves cut side up on a large rimmed baking sheet. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon brown sugar over each grapefruit half and broil for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the sugar melts and is bubbly.

  3. Remove from the oven and place a cherry in the center of each grapefruit half. Serve immediately.

Notes

For easiest eating, using a grapefruit knife or other sharp serrated knife to completely loosen the grapefruit from the peel and separate the sections from the membrane before broiling.
