Thousand Island Dressing
This recipe for Thousand Island Dressing, which originated at a hotel in the Thousand Islands area of central New York State, is very similar to what most of us think of as Russian dressing.
What You'll Need
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup sweet relish
- 1/4 cup ketchup
What to Do
- In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise and ketchup until thoroughly blended. Fold in relish; serve immediately, or cover and chill until ready to serve.
Makes 1-1/2 cups dressing.
Note
Use this dressing within 3 to 5 days and mix before each use. It's the perfect homemade dressing because you always have the ingredients on hand.

I always chop up hard boiled egg and add it to this recipe. I thought to be "Thousand Island" it had to have hard boiled egg. I still think adding the egg does add an extra something to it. I use chili sauce instead of ketchup, also. Extra sugar too. Try it, you'll like it.
