What can I use instead of chili sauce?

Hi there! You can use barbecue sauce in its place. Enjoy!

I'm going to try this with spareribs. Sounds great.

I have to try ribs this way. I usually put them in my slow cooker. I love the mix of sweet cola and spicy chili sauce and hot pepper sauce. We like to have ribs with potato salad and baked beans. It sounds like I have my Sunday meal planned.

This was easy peasy and turned out so tender. I did mine in the crock pot and used boneless western ribs and cut them into chunks. The meat was so tender and the sauce was delicious. I did thicken my sauce with a little bit of cornstarch. Thank you again, sorry to say no leftovers o)

Perfect! We don't grill, do the crock pot-style recipes or make home style BBQ. This recipe really filled a need and was delicious. Will make again and again.

Oh yeah, this is sooooo good. Ya gotta try it to believe it!!!!!!

FANTASTIC recipe. I've cooked it as written and in a crockpot and it was a hit both times!

Followed the recipe exactly, and the results were spectacular! The meat came away easily from the bone and it tasted great.

I finally had some short ribs so I could try this. The meat was so tender and delicious. I browned the ribs first and then cooked this in my slow cooker. It was even better when I reheated the leftovers and added more hot sauce because I wanted them to have a little more zip. I think this would be good with any kind of ribs, not just short ribs. This recipe is definitely a keeper.

if you brown the meat as directed first you could do this in a slow cooker, I would cook on high for 1 hr. then 5 hrs. on low, checking for tenderness. chili sauce is not that spicy dilute with ketchup if you want, and don't use the hot sauce (I used 1 TBL. Franks hot sauce)

OUTSTANDING!!!! I made these the other night, they are fatty, but I just took the fat off as it was cooking. Also watch that there is enough liquid, I had to add water during the cooking, the left overs are just as good as the first meal.

Could one make this in a crock pot?

Made this last night and it was delicious, but I found it very greasy...I did drain after I browned the short ribs and maybe they were just too fatty. It was very rich. We will be using the leftovers tonight in sandwiches, and since I drained them after they were done, I don't think they will be to greasy...we will see.

This was the best recipe ever!My dinner was a success!Don't change a thing.

What are cross cut short ribs? I need to ask the butcher when I go to market tomorrow. I will make this recipe with lots of mashed potatoes and frozen corn on the side.

Don't care for Chef Boy Are Me comments. I have met little people like that and they think alot more of themselves than they should. Shame on you

I'd like to know how the recipe works in a slow cooker, tx!

what cld. you use instead of chili sauce

With the Hot pepper sauce and Chili sauce are these "HOT" Spicy to the mouth?

I'm going to try it in a slow cooker, today--I'll let you know if it works well!

Can this be done in the slow cooker?

Chef Boy R Me...your comment was very rude to Vodika. You shouldn't take their comment so personal. It seems to me by reading their comment, they may have an accent and English might be his or her second language. Oh, BTW, " In the future if you post anything on the online, please make sure your grammar and spelling are correct" is what you meant to type. If you were only referring to one of those, then it would be "is".

This is also good using BBQ Sauce in place of the Chili Sauce.

That sounds better !

Excuse me. That sounds better LadyBabs !

This sounds very delis. will try soon.

my late husband was listening to abc news and mr. food came on with this receipe. it turned out to be one of his favorites. over the years i lost the receipe but thankfully i found it here and will make it in his honor today pam 12-13-12

Ahh sorry, I wont be able to give this a review, it don't even look good on paper, their are too many good ones out their to give a try that wont be a wast of time or money

If you are not able to post a review, then why did you write anything? For attention? And in the future if you post anything online please make sure your grammar and spelling is correct so as not to look stupid or uneducated to those who know better. "It doesn't even look good" is correct as is "too many good ones out there." What you wrote is incorrect. I can see why you said you were not "able" to give a review. I agree.
