COOK TIME

Versatile and flavorful Beefed up Chili Sauce is a zesty topper for our hot dogs as well as a classic starter for a traditional homemade chili.

What You'll Need

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 large onion, coarsely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

What to Do

  1. In a large saucepan, combine all the ingredients and bring to a boil over high heat, stirring until the beef is crumbled. Boil for 20 to 25 minutes, or until most of the liquid is absorbed, stirring occasionally.
             Serve hot.

Notes

Perfect as a topping for some hot dogs or, if you prefer to turn it into a traditional chili, just add a 16-ounce can of drained red kidney beans and cook until heated through. Serve in bowls topped with your favorite chili toppings.
