Hope substitutions aren't frowned upon as the original recipe is delicious But I'd like to share this with others instead of strawberry ice cream I subbed Pineapple sherbet Then used a few drops of rum flavoring in the whipped topping I'd say to try any combo of your favorite flavors as this is such a great and forgiving recipe Orange Sherbet also worked well and to that one I added freshly grated orange peel then added a Tbls fresh squeezed orange juice to the whipped topping Some of my family have allergies to strawberries We're used to subbing other fruits in recipes calling for strawberries Since Easter was last wk I've lots of leftover fresh eggs egg whites to put to use so made my own Angel Food cakes So easy once one gets the 'hang' of it Thanks again to the Mr Food Test Kitchens for sharing the recipes guidelinesRead More with all of us for so many easy-to-make and deliciously easy to eat recipes

I made a sponge cake but I did not make small slices. I cut it into two halves and placed one half on a dish. Next I added ice cream slice evenly on it. I placed the other half on the ice cream. Finally I mixed pineapple, cherry, strawberry, nuts, murabba (dry sweetened gourd) and raisins to whipping cream and spread evenly on top. It's a great dessert I prepared for a get together.

We do not have the frozen whipping topping over here what else can I use Thanks

Hello! We suggest whipping up 1 1/2 cups heavy cream with 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar until stiff. Enjoy!

Can the pineapple be substituted? I have family members that are allergic to pineapple.

Yes, the pineapple can be substituted. We recommend using another variety of fruit that has been diced, or try using toasted coconut. :)

I made this last week and my family loved it.Thought I would have some let over for company coming, nope all gone . This was very easy to make. My husband suggested to use brownies as the cake part next time. Will make against.

Everyone loved this & it was so easy to make. I would like to try it with pound cake next time.
